Belize

Yoga Lola has purchased land in Belize -- 60 acres of raw, virgin jungle along a remote lagoon.  The only way in or out is by boat.

Imagine being surrounded by wild jungle and water, everywhere ... a place you can only get to or from by boat ... no other people anywhere around ... a place where manatee, birds, sharks, dolphins, snakes, iguna, panthers, howler monkeys, and crocodiles live fearlessly ...

Yoga Lola Belize in is the Southern Toledo District of Belize.  It's a 45 minute boat ride from Monkey River Town, and what a harrowing and rough ride on the Carribean it can be ... but  an incredible journey, well worth the trip ... the last time we were there, we saw the manatee out in the ocean; the time before, we saw a sting ray leap high above the water, very close to the boat ... and a HUGE snake gliding across the water of the lagoon like he owned the place (because he does) ...

What's the land going to be when it grows up?  We don't know.  Kevin, my life partner and I, are still trying to decide what this will turn into ... but for now, it's just a wild piece of  paradise where nature can just be itself.

Once you get off the Carribean and turn into the lagoon, the water becomes softly still ... ripples here and there, capturing the reflection of the sun like a mirror.  It takes a good long time to get back to the land, which is deep into the Punta Ycacos Lagoon.  Without the expert navigation of our boatman, Babe, we'd never make it.  The lagoon is miles and miles of water and jungle on every side, and it all looks alike to the untrained eye.

The lagoon is surrounded on all sides by thousands of acres of National Park, so the 60 acres of land and all the water in front of it is protected by Belizan law.  Payne Creek National Park is across the waterway from the land, about 10 minutes by boat, and their small outpost houses the only human beings anywhere close.  It is very private.  No phones, no pools, no pets, ain't got no cigarettes ... Anyhow, it's wonderful.  It is exquisitely peaceful.

If you're interested in visiting this area, go the http://www.tidetours.org/ website.  There's lots of good information about the TOURS offered through TIDE, a local organization there, and a group that is actively protecting the wildlife and land of Belize.
